Prayers in this time of Influenza Outbreak

As we watch and wait to see if this Swine Flu outbreak turns into a Pandemic, we can offer prayers during these difficult days:

We give you thanks and praise, O God of compassion, for the Heroic witness of those who in this time of plague and pestilence, are steadfast in their care for the sick and the dying, and loved not their own lives, even unto death. Inspire in us a like love and commitment to those in need, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (adapted from the prayer for the Martyrs of Memphis, Lesser Feasts & Fasts)

We humbly beseech you, O Gracious Father, mercifully to look upon our infirmities, on those suffering from the Swine Flu; and, for the glory of your Name, turn from us this pestilence and grant that in all our troubles we may put our whole trust and confidence in your mercy, and evermore serve you in holiness and pureness of living, to your honor and glory; through our only Mediator and Advocate, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (adapted from the Book of Common Prayer)

O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers for all those suffering during this Swine Flu outbreak, and grant to your servants the help of your power, that their sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (from the Book of Common Prayer)
