Looking at Our Bias

We all have bias.  It is a mechanism that we have as human beings. But if we don't understand our bias, it can lead us away from living the way Jesus would have us live, with open hearts to the world that God has made.

What can we do?

• watch Peanut Butter, Jelly and Racism from the New York Times POV series 
• read "How to Reduce Unconscious Bias at Work" and it's list of types of implicit bias.
• listen to "Rap on Trial: How An Aspiring Musician's Words Led To Prison Time" - an episode of NPR's show Hidden Brain (a conversation about life's unseen patterns)
