First we had the Fortnight for Freedom because Roman Catholic's freedom was in jeopardy and then there was Missouri's Amendment 2 because Christians' freedom to pray was in trouble. This persecution complex is problematic because it paints us Christians as paranoid for our "rights".
And yet the real fight for religious freedom is not there...
It happened in Wisconsin when a Sikh Community was attacked.
It happened in Missouri when a Mosque was burnt to the ground.
I think the Christians in the USA should worry less about their rights and more about the other religions in our country who are attacked, defamed and made to worship in fear everyday.
Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart and especially the hearts of the people of this land, that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

There is much illogic in what you write. You are not Catholic and you do not appreciate the essence of conscience protection that is being assaulted by the so-called laws of a government that has overstepped its bounds. Conscience is you as much as your body is you. It is the aspect of your God-given limited autonomy (freedom of action) that we call free will. God doesn’t oppress it, neither should a government.
You ought to be thanking faithful Catholics for standing firm on their principles. It is not only our nation's religious freedom at stake. What about the freedom of life, snuffed out of all the innocent pre-born babies…where is their protection?
As far as persecution goes, Jesus told us to accept it as a sign that we are following Him. Our reward will not come in this world. (Matthew 5:10) It is no "complex." Suffer we will, but we are obliged to stand as a beacon to the Truth. The Truth is this: Freedom of religion is a God-given human right and the Sikh temple and Muslim mosque are protected by this same freedom.
This is a both/and, the prime posture Catholic theology takes as it sets out to describe all things real.
Would you expect it any other way—since all reality comes through Jesus Christ, the penultimate BOTH/AND (fully God and fully man)?
You posit a false either/or argument. Not good.

I am not Roman Catholic, you are correct, but I still don't see the RC Church as being persecuted.
You have the right to argue in the legislature and the courts that offering birth control goes against your conscience.
